This guide is outdated and will be soon removed!

Please see the updated guide HERE.

A small group of users is experiencing this issue, and we are currently not sure what might be causing it. If you are experiencing it, please contact us so that we can learn more and find out what the root cause is so that we can provide more accurate help to other users. If you need to use Corona immediately, please follow the procedures explained below, which should solve the problem:

Step one:

  1. Go to the Windows "Add or remove programs" list and make sure Corona Renderer is uninstalled

  2. Go to your 3ds Max installation folder (e.g. C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2020) and search for the keyword *coron*

  3. Remove all files which are found
NOTE: to stay safe, it is best to move those files to the trash bin rather than remove them forever. This is in case you need to restore the files.

  4. Go to your 3ds Max installation folder (e.g. C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2020) and search for the keyword *legion*

  5. Remove all files which are found
NOTE: to stay safe, it is best to move those files to the trash bin rather than remove them forever. This is in case you need to restore the files.

  6. Go to C:\Users\_username_\AppData\Local\ and remove the "CoronaRenderer" folder

  7. Go to C:\Program Files and remove the "Corona" folder

  8. After doing all of the above, install Corona again using the "Custom" mode in the installer - https://corona-renderer.com/download
NOTE: On the page where you can select various items, make sure that your 3ds Max version is selected!

Step two:

If Corona is still not visible on the list after the installation, try this:

  1. Go to your 3ds Max installation folder (e.g. C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2020)

  2. Open the "Plugins" folder

  3. You should find the following files there: CoronaMax2020.dlr and CoronaMaxUtils2020.dlt

  4. Cut those files (Right click > Cut or press Ctrl+X)

  5. Go to back to your 3ds Max installation folder

  6. Open the "stdplugs" folder (if it does not exist, create this folder manually, the path should be C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2020\stdplugs)

  7. Paste the .dlr and .dlt files from the "Plugins" folder to the "stdplugs" folder

  8. Start 3ds Max, check if Corona is visible now.

If you still can't use Corona after completing all of the above steps - please contact us
